Our Philosophy

How Does Learning Happen?

At Keziah Childcare Centre, our programs are guided by Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? framework. This evidence-informed approach views children as capable, confident, curious, and full of potential. We believe children thrive in environments where they feel safe, respected, and inspired to explore.

Four Foundational Pillars

Building a Strong Foundation for Lifelong Learning

Everything we do at Keziah Childcare Centre is rooted in four interconnected foundations that support children’s overall growth and development.

Belonging

Children develop a strong sense of belonging when they feel valued, respected, and connected to their peers, educators, families, and community.

At Keziah Childcare Centre, we promote belonging by:

Well-Being

A child’s well-being includes both physical health and emotional security. When children feel safe and supported, they gain confidence to explore and learn. We support well-being by:

Engagement

Children are naturally curious learners. They explore their environment through play, discovery, and meaningful experiences. At Keziah Childcare Centre, we encourage engagement through:

Expression

Children communicate in many ways — through words, movement, art, music, and play. Every child has the right to be heard and to participate in decisions that affect them. We nurture expression by:

Our Methodology

Play-Based & Inquiry-Driven Learning

At Keziah Childcare Centre, play is the foundation of learning. Through purposeful play, children build social skills, develop creativity, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Our inquiry-driven approach follows children’s interests and natural questions. Educators thoughtfully observe, extend, and scaffold learning experiences to support each child’s individual journey.

Child-Led Exploration

Children are encouraged to follow their interests and investigate what sparks their curiosity.

Hands-On Experiences

Learning happens through doing — building, creating, exploring, and experimenting.

Educator as Guide

Our educators observe, support, and extend learning while creating opportunities for meaningful growth.
